Legacy Research Grants
The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation's Legacy Research Grants are TAAF’s way of advancing lifesaving science in the name of those who inspire us—whether remembered, honored, or celebrated for the impact they’ve made. By naming a grant, we carry forward a legacy of hope, resilience, and progress while directly supporting research that improves care and outcomes for people affected by brain aneurysm, AVM, and related cerebrovascular conditions.
Some Legacy Research Grants are established by families and communities who come together to honor a loved one, while others are created by TAAF to advance priority areas of research aligned with our mission. Each grant—regardless of its origin—reflects a shared commitment to transforming impact, remembrance, and purpose into meaningful scientific progress.
If you are interested in establishing a Legacy Research Grant in honor of someone meaningful to you—or in support of a cause that matters deeply—we would be honored to walk alongside you. Please contact us at info@taafonline.org to begin the conversation.
The Manny Caridad Mission: AVM Research Grant
The Caridad family and friends came together to honor Manny’s life through All In for Manny, a spirited Casino Night filled with connection, generosity, and purpose. The event raised $25,000, which has been entrusted to The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation (TAAF) to fund a full-year cerebrovascular research grant dedicated to advancing AVM research.
Established in Manny’s memory, The Manny Caridad Mission: AVM Research Grant supports innovative research focused on improving the understanding, treatment, and outcomes for individuals affected by arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).
Thanks to the leadership of the Caridad family and the generosity of their community, this grant represents more than funding—it reflects a shared commitment to progress, hope, and lives saved.
TAAF is deeply honored to steward these funds and carry forward Manny’s legacy by supporting research that has the potential to change the future of AVM care.
The Lisa Hannegan Legacy of Care Research Grant
The Lisa Hannegan Legacy of Care Research Grant honors Lisa Hannegan—our cherished founder, leader, mentor, and friend—whose life’s work embodied compassion, excellence, and unwavering commitment to patients and families affected by complex neurosurgical conditions.
While not a nursing research grant, this legacy award supports cerebrovascular research that advances thoughtful, patient-centered care—reflecting Lisa’s belief that how we care is as important as the science itself.
Through this grant, TAAF carries forward Lisa’s enduring legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service, ensuring her impact continues to shape the future of care for those affected by brain aneurysm and AVM.
